The Young Composers Program strives to encourage the creation of music by children in our public school music classes; to let children experience music as something to be made; to encourage children to work productively and cooperatively in groups both large and small.
Every child who is exposed to this program will understand, from first-hand experience, the value of musical expression, the benefits of working with others in a group setting, the pride that grows from creating something new.
When a child thinks of music class, they will think of creating their own images with sounds. They will think of instruments as a means to their personal expression as creators (not just re-creators) of complete musical ideas.
